An opportunity to join a thriving and friendly practice in an edge-of-city location, offering an exciting and variedworkload including conservation projects, commercial commissions and contemporary country homes.
Join an enthusiastic design-led practice
Our practice is growing, so we’re looking to recruit an architect who wants to develop their own skill base, at the same time helping us to delight our existing clients and impress new ones. You’ll command a salary to match your experience and will enjoy excellent working conditions in a bright and modern converted mill with a fun and friendly team.
We’re looking for flair and positivity
We don’t have a fixed idea about the ideal candidate and we’re interested in candidates with all types of professional experience. What’s important is your willingness to learn and to approach your projects with energy and commitment.
We’re lucky enough to attract many different types of project – from modest conversions to high-spec new builds and sensitive conservation work. We’ll usually have a good variety of commissions on the go at any one time, so there’s always something interesting in the pipeline. We also have an in-house Mechanical and Electrical Services Engineer to advise on renewable energy options, so you’d have a good opportunity to acquire valuable experience in sustainable solutions.
Because we’re a tight-knit team, you’d be expected to have a hands-on role in the practice – which means you’d be dealing directly with suppliers, builders, craftspeople and clients – but there’s also lots of scope to develop the role in a way that dovetails with your own unique talents and areas of interest. If you like working with a significant amount of autonomy, you’re likely to be a good fit.
It’s a rewarding role
We offer a package of benefits that includes a RIBA-scale salary and pension contributions, 25 days holiday per year, CPD opportunities and a funded annual office trip to Europe. You’ll need a full driving licence and the use of a car.
We live and work in an area that’s famous for its remarkable landscape and historic built environment. It’s a beautiful place to call home and offers easy access to the lakes, fells, coastal communities and picturesque towns and villages that make the region so sought after. Why not call us to get a feel for our practice – and check out our website for more information on some of our recent projects?
How to apply
If we’ve whetted your appetite for a career move, please submit your CV and some portfolio examples with a covering letter letting us know why you’d like to join us in our small but vibrant practice. Please apply via RIBA Appointments or by email or post and feel free to telephone us to ensure that it has arrived. We’re very much looking forward to hearing from you.
