Morton Wykes Kramer Architects are looking for a talented architect to join their Northamptonshire practice.

Morton Wykes Kramer was founded in 1998. In the last 20 years we have covered over 900 projects focussing on automotive, educational and residential architecture.  These projects have been both local and nationwide for clients such as Volvo, KIA and Honda, various Housing Associations, Academies and private clients. That strong client base makes our work both challenging and stimulating. We pride ourselves on our distinct commercial schemes, imaginative classrooms through to our innovative passive housing. The role

We are looking for an architect to join our team from September 2018. This full-time, permanent role demands a dedicated self-starter with team spirit who shares our creative ambitions. We are offering you the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects on a daily basis. This is an opportunity to develop yourself into a well-rounded architect with a high level of responsibility and ownership of projects from inception to completion, with a clear path to becoming an associate and director. Leadership and management skills will give you the opportunity to develop your career. The position will have a six-month probationary period.  Salary is dependent upon experience.

About You

The ideal candidate will be a registered architect, having worked in a UK based practice for 3-5 years. The candidate will have both good design and technical credentials and have had exposure to all RIBA stages.  They will be used to dealing with clients, colleagues, suppliers, statutory bodies and contractors, ensuring a broad variety of work. Whilst initially reporting to the director, the long-term goal should be to take ownership of an increasing number of projects, becoming a key member of the studio and taking a leading role in the development of the practice.

Key responsibilities:

  • assist and ultimately lead on design projects across all RIBA stages
  • support projects currently on site
  • prepare and coordinate bids and proposals
  • lead the use of ArchiCAD within the practice, supporting other staff members in their learning and use of the software
  • produce and edit presentation material including 3D architectural visualisations, diagrams, graphs, documents and other required imagery
  • understand and adhere to Quality Assurance systems
  • assist in the marketing of the practice, producing articles for the website in relation to the projects you are involved in
  • take an active role and responsibility for bringing new work to the practice
  • take a proactive role in Continued Professional Development, identifying gaps in the knowledge and skills of the practice
  • create and maintain a great working relationship with clients
  • other duties commensurate with this role that may be required from time to time

Personal and professional skills:

  • computer literate with solid experience of using the full Adobe Suite, ArchiCAD, AutoCAD and SketchUp
  • exceptional skills and experience in the preparation of high-quality packages, documents and graphics
  • a creative flair, originality, imagination and a strong visual sense
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • professional attitude with the ability to meet deadlines and multi-task
  • positive and pro-active approach
