Part II Architectural Assistant/recently qualified architect

Do you want to make a positive impact on the world around us? Would you like to work for a company that supports your professional development, provides time to help you learn and while working on interesting and unique projects.

We are looking for a Part II architectural assistant or recently qualified ARB registered architect to join our small, young and dynamic team of conservation architects and designers based in Chipping Norton Oxfordshire, and are offering a starting salary of £24,000-30,000 per annum subject to experience.

As well as the drawings and designs we produce, as a small team of designers, our discussions and ideas are fundamental to the success of our projects.

The role will provide you with the opportunity to take an active part in the design discussions, internal CPD’s and presentations, and more widely in the development of the office and the business.

Specialising in conservation and regeneration this is a fantastic opportunity to work on a wide range of projects across the RIBA work stages to use a case study toward your part 3, whilst developing the skills required to become accredited in conservation. A typical day will be incredibly varied and may include carrying out archival research, making planning and listed building applications as well as preparing working detail drawings.

We will support your development by developing your skills as an architect and in conservation through supporting you in surveys, site meetings and presentations.

As a part II architectural assistant/recently qualified architect your core responsibilities will include

  • Develop architectural designs for projects using 2d and 3d modelling or hand-drawn techniques, with a good knowledge of CAD.
  • Preparing planning and listed building consent applications.
  • Travelling to sites, across the country potentially staying away in hotels overnight.
  • Carry out research to develop and understanding of the site/context and prepare historic development sections of statements of significance.
  • Taking an active part in presentations internally and externally to clients and other consultants.
  • Responsible for arranging and contributing to design discussions and CPD’s
  • To share and discuss drawings, interesting projects and ideas.
  • To have a good grasp of the building regulations, and prepare working drawing and repair packages under supervision.
  • To understand and record project tasks on a daily and weekly basis, and to plan your workload accordingly.
  • Understand the RIBA plan of work, to be able to communicate progress with clients.
  • To take responsibility for an area of practice expertise or management.

If you’re interested in the position as Part II Architectural Assistant or recently qualified architect. Please submit a covering letter in addition to your cv/ small portfolio detailing your specific experience, and telling us why you are the best candidate for the role.
