We are seeking two exceptional Architects to join our ambitious Architectural Team here at Croydon Council. You will be employed within the Council’s Development Division providing design and feasibility services for the award winning development company Brick by Brick and their recently established architecture practice ’Common Ground Architecture’.
You will join a team of down to earth, practical designers seeking to create characterful and joyful architecture as an everyday staple for everyone. We are ambitious and growing fast, and we are looking for Architects who are conceptually brilliant, have an eye for detail and a thorough understanding of how exceptional buildings are put together. The majority of our work is on small and medium scale residential developments, so housing experience through all RIBA stages is preferred. You should be experienced at running your own projects, organised and diligent in your approach to design development and documentation.
Our team has a busy and varied workload. The first project we have designed as Common Ground Architecture is soon starting on site and we have other sites currently in planning and a future pipeline of sites currently being identified. You will work predominately as an architect on project work, but will also be required to provide client side design advice for Brick by Brick on its wider portfolio of sites.
Brick by Brick is a multi-award winning development company established by Croydon Council. It aims to create characterful and high quality homes for all tenures and is currently delivering around 3000 new homes across 50+ sites throughout the borough. The Brick by Brick model is designed to maximise the return from development activity to local residents, while also addressing housing need.
Common Ground Architecture sits within the Brick by Brick family and trades as a commercial practice in its own right. Any profit we make is returned to Croydon Council. We work predominately on residential projects in Croydon for our parent company Brick by Brick, but our structure also allows us to work with other boroughs and developers.
Applicants should be ARB registered, have residential experience through all RIBA work stages and have excellent project documentation and presentation skills. Experience of AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and SketchUp is preferred.
