The Architects Registration Board is seeking to appoint Examiners for its Prescribed Examination and other equivalence-based routes leading to Registration.
The ARB is the UK statutory regulator of architects, and is responsible for prescribing the qualifications required to be an architect in the UK.

Hours: Successful candidates need to be able to commit to
a minimum of 4 days per year (09:00-17:00), agreed in advance.
Term of Engagement: Four years, with the possibility of re-appointment
Attendance Allowance: £275 per day plus reasonable expenses
As an Examiner you will review submissions from and interview individuals whose qualifications are not prescribed by ARB and who wish to gain entry to the UK Register of Architects. You will assess applications against ARB’s criteria (Parts 1 and 2) of architectural education and training, reporting to the ARB as to whether the applicants satisfy the relevant criteria. You will be required to interview candidates who meet a certain threshold about their submissions and, if acting as Lead Examiner, may be required to inform candidates who fail to meet this threshold that the examination will not advance to the interview stage.
To be considered for this role, you will need to be:
- Registered with the ARB
- A resident in the UK
- A practising architect, preferably familiar with contemporary educational practice, or an experienced academic actively involved in delivering a course of architecture at a UK University or comparable establishment
- Conversant with the Board’s Criteria
