Commercial Director RIBA A is proud to be partnering with this well respected, firmly established global AJ100 practice which has a rare opening and we believe massive opportunity for a Commercial Director to head up and build out operations in the newly established Shanghai office.

You'll need to be able to clearly demonstrate your Business Development prowess by leading the BD activity of the organisation. Each Director is required to actively participate in business development activity both individually and as part of the director team in nuturing the business's income, obtaining new clients, securing repeat business from existing clients, and each making their contribution to fulfilling the turnover objectives for the business as set out and agreed in the budget each year. .

Strategic Thinking - Operational application of the practice Vision. More so there will be an expectation specific to the Chinese market that new senior level Directors will contribute to the Vision creation given the nature of place and culture.

Business Culture - Application of the company management ethos and development of policy and standards.

Directing Business Performance - Leverages knowledge and expertise to position the practice at top of its market.

Representing the Business - Represents the business to clients, peer group institutions, professional institutions and trade organizations. At this stage in the company evolution in China business development activities, both direct and soft will play an important part of the role shared with and supporting the other studio Directors.

Professional Competence

Fiscal and Legislative Compliance - Acts as and supports the Director team in compliant operation of the business within the fiscal and legislative framework in Shanghai and China.

Financial Awareness

Planning - Sets the budget with the participation of Board Directors.

Management - Supervises timely adjustments to resource allocation and client management to ensure budget forecasts are met, optimizes fee earning potential and ensures contracts are robust and risk managed.

Reporting requirements - Regular reporting on holistic business performance.

Internal Intelligence - Mentors and harnesses internal knowledge throughout the studio team to perform as market leader.

Manage Uncertainty and Risk - Redirects activities in response to business threats and opportunities.

Communication - Takes client and business / studio colleagues' views into account when making decisions and problem solving.

Developing Others - Determines the formal and informal training of the team.

Performance Management - Manages the performance, review and appraisal of the team, their professional development, progression and reward.
