Architecture salary guide

We're often asked for advice on architecture salary levels and hourly rate expectations. Without addressing the specific case it's difficult to give meaningful or helpful guidance (it's a bit like asking the price of a house without knowing the details or if there's an interested buyer on the day!) but as a very rough guide to London area norms, and bearing in mind the vagaries of the market:

Beyond this point it depends so much upon the individual and the firm and the job but as examples for architects at least 3 or 4 years post-reg:

• as Architect with small firm c. £34-37,000
• as Architect with larger/commercial firm c. £35-39,000
• as Team Leader with larger/commercial firm c. £39-45,000
• as Associate with smaller firm c. £37-45,000
• as Associate with larger/commercial firm c. £40-50,000
