On October 1st 2002 the Fixed Term Employees (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Regulations 2002 came into effect. As the name suggests, the law now prevents employment terms being offered on a less favourable basis to temporary rather then permanent staff members e.g. in terms of holidays or other staff benefits (such as free memberships).
